What the final mosaic will look like with YOUR picture - Submit your photos now, time is running out!
How a photo mosaic works:
A photo mosaic is a picture produced by arranging many smaller tile photos to form a vibrant larger photo. The digital photo you upload will be used as a tile photo in the larger "Imagine all the People" mosaic. In essence, your smaller photo will make up the larger photo.

It is so easy to submit your photo:
- Go to "donate now"and make a donation. Your donation helps promote research and education for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of mitochondrial disease.
- After you donate please send your photo as an attachment (please see cell photo guidelines below) to photomosaic@umdf.org and include your name, phone number, and a description of the picture including names of those in the photo.
- You will then receive a confirmation email letting you know your picture was received. Please be sure to check your spam box if you feel you didn't receive a confirmation email right away.
Cell photo guidelines:
- It is best if the cell photos are similar in color to the background photo. Suppose a photo mosaic uses a picture of a sunset as the background photo, which is mainly composed of the colors orange and yellow. Using a collection of wedding photographs, which typically contain a lot of black and white, will not work well to create the orange and yellow sunset. Consequently, we suggest that you submit photos that have either a blue, green, yellow or beige background. This will make it easier for your individual photos to fit into our "Imagine All the People" virtual mosaic.
- Please submit original photos directly from your digital camera. We will not accept thumbnails, web images or mobile images.
- Please crop your cell photos to a landscape(horizontal) 3x4 aspect ratio, 1200 x 900 pixels or 300dpi resolution
- High resolution scanned photos will be accepted.
Purchase the photo mosaic:
The photo mosaic will be available for purchase in an 11"x14" size when completed! This is the perfect gift for your friends and family for any occasion - holidays, birthdays, graduations, you name it, this unique mosaic is a gift that will last a lifetime. Who wouldn't appreciate this special, personalized gift?
